Batteries are AWESOME

Over the summer I got a wicked awesome guitar. It is plastic and has all sorts of buttons and I really enjoyed pretending to play it and calling myself, "Rock and Roll Star."

I had no idea, but it actually plays music. Az anyam put batteries into the guitar and now I'm a real rock and roll star....and az anyam and az apam are getting earplugs.

Jimi Hendrix has nothing on me.

The king may have to walk there, but I don't

This last weekend an event started so majestic and momentous I couldn't even get it on video - my potty training. In honor of good taste, this posting and its footage have been seriously edited.

It's gone decently with 2-3 accidents per day, but I'm getting there. Every time I go #1 on the potty I get a sticker and an M&M. If az apam is there and I go on the potty, he gets no stickers but two M&Ms.

If I take care of extra business, I get two stickers and two M&Ms. This morning we hit a milestone - I did something without prompting and got two stickers and two M&Ms for my efforts.

Hey Good Looking

Here's what I got cooking....

I have been cooking all sorts of stuff lately. My newest, favoritest thing to do is to take a large mixing bowl, chop up all sorts of play food, throw the food into the mixing bowl and put it all in my oven for 2-3 minutes. It is quite the tasty stew/salad/casserole.

Talking at the dinner table

I've been a big fan of Skype for the simple reason that it's easier to talk to someone I can see. The whole phone thing is a bit abstract for a 2.5 year old.

Fortunately, it's not too abstract for a 2.6 year old. I now will hold up my end and take part in both sides of a phone conversation. For a little while anyway.

The end of the road?

Is it considered the end of the road when we're talking about swimming? Should it be the end of the pool? In any event, I am almost done with uszolecke for the session.

I've made great progress. Check out my swimming. It's a little hard to see the bubble on my back. Sometimes I think I don't need it, but I quickly find that I do.

Az anyam came this past week to uszolecke. All that tanarnenik were impressed at how well I was doing and how happy and excited I was to be there. Then az apam pointed out that az anyam was there. They were all, "Whatever it takes."

Check out how well I tolerated going under the water because az anyam was around.

Sometimes things result in a draw

I have been enjoying doing my own thing more and more. Today after vacsora, I went off to read in the corner. I really enjoy coloring.

Sometimes az apam gives me a color commentary on what I'm doing, but I prefer to fly solo with the Crayola so I ignore him.

I learned that from az anyam.

Both the coloring and the photo of the coloring are pretty darn, fine art if I may say so myself.

Ajandekok for az Anyam and az Apam

Az apam considers many of the gifts I received to be gifts for az anyam and az apam. "Why?" you ask. Because I sit and play quietly for extended periods all by myself.

This is the garage I received from Mama and Papa. It's an updated version of the classic that was Keresztpapa's I play with at Mama and Papa's.

Life is a Highway, I Need a Car

There has been unnecessary discussion recently of careers jobs and all that in our house. On top of that I was playing doctor with the doctor kit from Pak Bacsi. The gift from Nagymama and Nagypapa was a chest of career choices. In another family you might call them costumes, but not here.

The first option was the urhajo jelmez. John Glenn. Yuck.

Then I tried out the cop and firefighter life. I thought, "A 2 and a half year old who wants to be a police officer/firefighter - CLICHE!"

I think I'll just become a race car driver. More of a Ricky Bobby than a Jeff Gordon.

Sanjay Gupta, Watch Out

It started with the doctor's kit from Pak Bacsi.

And an Indian-American was nominated for the top doctor's spot in the US. An Indian-American Doctor! Who could have imagined?!? That combination of factors inspired me to get right to work. I'm inspired.

I am definitely going to become a doctor. I have wasted some time playing with my toy doctor's kit, but if I want to get into a good med school I have to get to work starting a soup kitchen soon. This way I'll have enough time to edit my high school yearbook and letter on the crew team. These are all very important in showing the top schools that I am worthy of becoming a doctor.

Tobb Ajandek

This Christmas was so cool - not only did I get to travel to Toronto and Florida and celebrate Christmas in each of those places, when I got home there were all sorts of ajandekok waiting for me there.
I didn't even have to wait for us to finish unpacking to tear into the gifts. Thank you, everyone, for your wicked awesome ajandekok. There were a ton of them.
There was also a special ajandek waiting at home for az anyam and az apam.

Danke Schön

I was pretty wiped out after my week in Disney. I slept even more soundly than Kutyus.

I wanted to thank Nagymama not only for taking all of us down to Disney and giving us a great week, but also for helping me put three szipka into my cup.

Nagypapa was a little preoccupied with his own straws to help me out.

Wild Animals

I loved Animal Kingdom. It's the newest Disney park. It's like a kingdom full of animals. I loved checking out all the animals. We saw most of them on a little safari. We rode on this massive safari truck.

We saw Hippos.
And we saw a way-cool male lion walking around.

And some cheetahs hiding in the grass.

And tons of flamingos.
And a whole bunch of massive rhinos.

Some crazy scimitar horned oryx which no longer exist in the wild.

My favorite animals I didn't see on the safari. These big guys were on a walking tour we went on after the safari. They were these big hairy beasts.

No, sorry, these other big, hairy beasts.

I spent a lot of time watching and studying their ways. You could call me James Goodall....

Girls and Fire

One of the highlights of my trip to Disney World was going to a luau.

We started off with some very tasty food. Az anyam cut me a small piece of bread. I let her have the small piece and took the loaf.

There was a lot of dancing. They tried to get me to strut my stuff, but I was a wee bit overwhelmed at that point and just hung out on stage.

I spent much of the night with my jaw on the floor. Naturally, my jaw was on the floor because of the smokin' hot hula dancers, but also because of the smokin' hot fire dancer guy.

Characters on Parade

During my holiday break, I got to spend some time at Disney World in Florida. It was nice to be in shorts for a while. There were some odd characters there - a very diverse cross-section of America....the globe actually.

I got to meet Pluto....

...and I got to drum with this freaky guy....

....of course I got to see Mickey Mouse and give him a big hug....

....then I saw some characters I did not know like Lilo....

...and Stitch. I still gave them big hugs and enjoyed meeting them.

And then there were these unsavory characters. Sure they look clean-cut and kosher in this picture, but you should see them when they go out at night.

Noise, Light and Scent

This Holiday Season (legitimate use of the word Holiday as I am using it to be inclusive of New Year's) had a recurring theme of sensory overload. It got progressively louder, brighter and olfactorierer. The trend started with the Christmas Eve celebration and all the cousins and family.

It's enough to make a kid hide inside a basket for some quiet reading.
