Hey, I remember that thing

Previously I mentioned that every few weeks I rediscover things as I develop more perspective and understanding.

Recently I rediscovered the beauty of the ceiling fan. Of course it, like everything else, will only keep my attention for a minute or two, but what a minute or two that is:

Note the pacifier locked into my mouth. My teeth have been bothering me a wee bit lately and it eases the pain.

Learning is hard. Impatience is easy.

Of all the wonderful things I got from az anyam (her dashing good looks, her intelligence, her friendly, caring demeanor, etc), the one inherited trait from her that gives me trouble is her impatience. The impatience I got from her is with myself. She's plenty patient with other people. (My impatience with other people's ineptness I get from az apam.)

Lately I have had a lot of trouble figuring out this crawling thing. I've resorted to rolling like a 6month old. How humiliating. This next clip shows me trying to crawl:
I was so mad that I wasn't successful, I could have spit:
Well, OK, I did spit.

I like the tub. No, I don't. Yes, I do.

I've been a bit schizophrenic about the whole bathing thing, especially in my youth. At first I didn't care for it. A few days later, I learned to appreciate it. Then, at a few months of age, it grew old. It was soooooo for three month olds.

Recently, I've come to enjoy the water. Nagymama taught me how to enjoy splish splashing around on my stomach. It's kind of like swimming, but my wimp of a father won't fill the tub with water, so I don't really know for sure.

Most significant and heartfelt apologies

I really don't have much to say today. I'm tired. It's work getting up twice a night for meals. I'm still not potty-trained. I only get to eat chicken - no beef, pork or dog. I can't crawl, only roll. My gums feel like they're going to explode.

And I'm having a bad hair day.

Do dogs taste like chicken?

The other day I got to hang out with Ruth Neni and Kai. More importantly I got to hang out with Cosmo. Cosmo is what is called a "dog." A "dog" is an animal. Like chicken.

They (dogs) are the coolest things ever. They're like people - they pay attention to me, they like to interact with me and they can walk around. It turns out they're even better than people. Where people only have some hair (and some even have none...az apam), dogs are covered in it. Unfortunately, Ruth Neni wouldn't let me pull on his hair. That's another reason dogs are better than people - Cosmo would have let me pull on his hair.

It's a little hard to see, but this video is my playing with Cosmo and comes to us courtesy of Ruth Neni.

Ali was the greatest. I am the cutest.

Yesterday's posting was a bit gross. The images were not appropriate for all eyes. It was gross even for those eyes for which it was appropriate. To help everybody's eyes recover I am going to post some pictures from recent history - the BS (Balazs and Susanne) Wedding. They come to us via Mama and Papa, who has slayed the technology beast and mastered his camera and computer.

For the wedding, I sported the latest in winter nuptial fashion. All the cool babies this year are sporting elf hats and the three piece tux with no tie. It is the right balance of dressy and my-neck-is-too-thick-for-the-bow-tie-casual.

Finally some meat

Again, not for the weak of stomach. Here is one of my first tastes of chicken:
http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1928192740373999509

It's just taking me a little bit to get used to the consistency. The flavor is delish, if a bit bland. Mixed with apples, the chicken goes down nice and smooth. On its own, not so smooth.

I also like Bananas

No. You don't get it. I really like bananas. They taste like.....like.....like totally awesome. And they feel like Heaven. Putting my hands in a bowl full of bananas is like giving my hands a day at the spa. I "ate" seven cubes of bananas for dinner last night.

It was actually more like I ate five and ended up wearing two of them.
Peas are a very, very different story. This video is not for the weak of stomach:

This food thing could get really popular

My eating habits are evolving rapidly. I have recently taken eating to the next level. Previously, I had only been using sight, sound, taste and smell while eating.

To raise my game, I have added a fifth (and some would say final) sense - touch.

To really get a feel for the food, I like to really get a feel of the food. I prefer to roll my sleeves up and dig in. Of course, while I'm elbow deep in this excellent food I don't actually put any of it in my mouth. Putting food into my mouth with my hands would be barbaric. I, as a civilized young man, still use utensils.

Me, in my own words

Frequently I will have az apam take dictation for me.

I'm a busy man trying to figure out how to take over the world. While my communications to you, my minions, are important, it's not always important enough for me to deal with directly. So I make it a team effort (that's code for me giving it to az apam to do - makes him feel better than if I were to say, "Do this.").

But today I had something to tell you myself, so here I go:

Ganxtas don't cry

I went to the doctor's office yesterday for a flu shot. Even thugs need help fighting off Orthomyxoviridae.

So I'm sitting there in nothing but my skivvies when a couple of ladies walk into the room. They start chatting up me and az anyam. I make eye contact with them. We're flirting. I'm feeling the love. Then one of the fine ladies took a four inch needle and stuck it into my thigh. I'm like, "That's cool, yo. This brother don't cry." I played it off cool. Az anyam gave me a big hug, but I just wanted to keep flirting with the ladies.
Thank you, Balazs Bacsi. The hat rules.

That was that

Sunday night I pretty much slept through the night. Monday night I almost slept through the night. I got the parents thinking it might be a pattern.

Boy did I enjoy breaking them of that notion last night. I didn't hit them too hard - just waking up twice and going back to sleep. I just wanted to show them who is in charge.
BTW - I love to eat, eat, eat/pears and bananas.

I got so bombed and was hung over for days

We got back from the weekend and I slept from 8pm to 5:30am. This is the first time I really slept this well. Then last night I slep from 730pm to 4am. According to my parents, this is an awesome thing.

I'm not really sure why I slept so well, but listening to people at/after the wedding I think I got bombed and was hung over. I don't know what either of those things mean, but I kept hearing that from people at the wedding to explain their expectations for the next day.

Kis Gal Bacsi, "I hope Emese Neni will be kind to me tomorrow. I'm going to be so out of it for days."

Bandi Bacsi, "I'm going to run six miles tomorrow." Laci Bacsi, "Not with as hung over as you'll be."
Hootie Bacsi, "I'm as free as a bird because I am bombed on blue whales."

Uncle Peti Bacsi, "It's Saturday night. That means I'll be hurting tomorrow."

Uncle Piki Bacsi and Uncle Peti Bacsi, "It's Saturday night. That means we'll be hurting tomorrow."

Az Anyam, "It's Saturday night. That means Uncle Piki Bacsi and Uncle Peti Bacsi will be hurting tomorrow."

Jani Bacsi and Laci Bacsi, "Hopefully the pain of tomorrow's hangover will help me forget my Mastercard bill."
Tony Bacsi, "You never feel bad when you look this good."

Gugi Bacsi, "I've gotta stop getting bombed and singing that Oscar Mayer song at weddings."

My favorite wedding this year

I had the opportunity to attend Balazs Bacsi (BB) and Zsuzsannananana Neni's (ZN) wedding over the weekend. It was so wicked awesome I can't wait until Balazs Bacsi's next one.

For this wedding I got to wear a tuxedo and by "got to wear" I mean my grandmothers stuffed me into one. I do have to say that mass was a little boring - I slept through half of it. I did hear that I will have plenty of babysitting opportunities - BB and ZN are planning on having ten kids. I will also get to be halfback on their soccer team. BB thinks it will be him, but he's ooooooooooooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllddd and married.

Once I got to the reception, the grandmothers unstuffed me from my tuxedo and let me wear my pajamas. I felt like Hugh Heffner (sorry, no link) hanging out at a wicked party in my pajamas. I ended sleeping through half of the reception too. Not because it was boring, but because I was in pajamas and wrapped in the fabric of the gods - flannel.

The best mother in the world

I don't know if I've mentioned this lately, but I have the best mother in the world.

That's all I have to say about that.

How to rebel

Stradas have interesting ways of rebelling. Some started wearing sandals. Some became more conservative than their parents. OK - so we're not exactly the type who get two DUIs and keep it secret from the parents for two years until the insurance gets yanked.

I've decided it's time to start pushing the boundaries. I'm going to grow my hair long. This is me two months ago. Note that I am the one who is not balding. A fair head of hair.

Here am I a week ago. Note the full, luscious hair.

I am well on my way to becoming a long haired weirdo, just like Uncle Peti Bacsi.

Important Life Lesson

I received this t-shirt from Papa for Christmas. For those of you who don't habla 'magyar,' it means "Yes, mother."

To anyone who might possibly be getting married this weekend, this is an important phrase that you must learn. The sooner, the happier everyone will be. You might be right, but is it worth it to be unhappy and right? Or is it better to be happy and wrong?

The other option is to get your way by just looking cute and having people fawn all over you. Of course, should that fail, I find screaming and throwing a fit to also be an effective means to happiness. The cuteness/hysterical child contrast is too much for people to bear. Manipulation is your friend.

Ain't nothing gonna hold me down

Every few weeks I gain a new sense of consciousness. I think it's the Shirley Macclaine and Deepak Chopra I've been reading. It might also have something to do with my body and brain developing faster than an Ethiopian chicken.

Of course, as soon as I discover a new view of the world, the man tries to keep me from discovering it. In the above picture, az Anyam and Auntie Em try to hold me down. They say, "Oh Mate, you're not wearing pants. You can't discover the world right now." To that, I say, "Good day. I'm going discovering."

The danger of being so cute

Every once in a while I realize what a negative being so cute can be. Yes, it is my cross I must bear. Some people get toothaches, I am too cute. Lately people have been so overcome by my cuteness that I run the risk of being smothered.

I love my grandmothers dearly, but they do have a bit of a habit of getting carried away.

A favor / A favour

I had the opportunity to hang with Tony Bacsi a bit over the holidays. He and I were discussing different aspects of public oration. Tony Bacsi is more into discussion and speaking. I tend to favor screams, cries and yelps.

It turns out that Tony Bacsi is giving a speach at Balazs Bacsi's upcoming funer....wedding to Zsuzsannanannanana Neni. He is missing the story to tie it all together. That story that is both mocking of Balazs Bacsi and flattering to Zsuzsanannannna Neni. The one that will explain their relationship to everybody.

Basically the story that puts into words this picture of the two of them. If you, faithful readers, have any suggested anecdotes, forward them to either me or Tony Bacsi.

A few more of my favorite things

I've decided to prolong my Cleveland visit. The midwest command center needs a bit more work. What made this decision easier is that my Canadian family came down to visit in Cleveland bringing a few of my favorite things:
Hair

Beer
Canadian swim hats that make uncle Pak Bacsi look like a goof.

What a headache

I partied like a rock star last night. It was a New Year's like I've never had before.

I started off the evening in the command center plotting to take over the world at the stroke of midnight. But Nagypapa brought out the Coronas and I'm a sucker for beer with fruit in it.

Needless to say, the newspapers this morning did not say, "6 Month Old Benevolent Dictator Takes Over World." Instead, my father got some pictures of me under another couch.
