Keep on Truckin'

Az anyam rotates my toys in and out of hiding. She does this to even the wear on them so that they stay good for a consistently long time. Not really....she actually does it so that I really appreciate them and get excited for them when I re-get them. It's like having a birthday on a quarterly basis.
Last week I was quite excited when I found my ride-on dump truck in the closet. I had az apam get it right out so that I could frolic on it. It was almost awesome, but something was missing and I immediately knew what it was.

I jumped off the truck, went into the closet and found a baseball cap to put on backwards. Then I was just like a real dump truck driver.

Your modesty would be appreciated

The other week when we went applepicking, I had a revelation.

Leah had given me an apple and I had taken my first bite when I realized all of my stuffed animals wear no pants.

Since then I've been on a mission to properly pelenka-ize them. It's just such a pain to change them when they get dirty.

One thing missing at Mama and Papa's

I enjoyed my time in Canada. I really did. I also enjoyed working in the yard raking. I really did. The whole time there I felt something was missing. I really did. At first, I thought it was az apam. I really did.

Then I realized, Mama and Papa need a retaining wall I can jump off of and into a pile of leaves. That is wicked cool raking.

The way raking was meant to be.

A puzzle wrapped in a puzzle hidden inside a puzzle

I have been playing with puzzles quite a bit. I really enjoy them. I think it's all part of the OCD I inherited from az anyam and az anyam alone. You have a mess of pieces and have to make order. I'm a little entropy machine.

It's a favorite activity of az anyam and az apam at 5 in the morning. Let me rephrase that, it's a favorite assigned activity from az anyam and az apam at 5 in the morning.

Leafing on a Jet Plane

Winter comes a little earlier in Toronto than in Connecticut. That didn't stop our yard at home from filling with leaves, while Mama and Papa's yard was also full of leaves.

In a kind of crazy, cosmic, telepathic coincidence, while az anyam and I raked leaves at Mama and Papa's house, az apam was raking leaves at our house in CT. Sheer madness.

Homes is homes

I've done a fair amount of travel in my time. What makes it a lot easier is that I can do a lot of the same things on the road as I do at home. When I was in Toronto I did all the things I do at home.

I went around the house taking pictures of my favorite things.

I sat on the couch reading.

I had a grandparent read to me.

I also get up before the crack of dawn at other peoples' homes, just like at my home.

Two thumbs and going retro

This past weekend I was in Canada visiting Mama and Papa and Emi Neni and Martha Neni and Dedi. Hanging with family was fun and cool, but I really enjoyed going into that time capsule we call Canada. Some of the stuff we develop in America takes a while to get up there. Check out the old-school, vintage toys I got to play with at

Oh, never mind. Az apam just told me the toys are sooooooo old because they are from when az anyam was a kid. I was thrown off because the garage was in color.

Shoes Were Made for Dancing

Rhonda Neni bought some shoes for my friend Ben on super-sale. They didn't fit Ben, but since they were on super-sale she couldn't return them. I really liked the shoes from the moment I got them. So much so, that I took a picture of them.

I also took a picture of az apam's shoes, but they're old and nasty. Kind of like him.
When I put the shoes on, they were like magical shoes. They had a mind of their own. They just wanted to dance, dance, dance.

You have got to know what you don't know

You adults have a habit of taking for granted the things you know. Those of us who are not as well-versed in the ways of the world sometimes have to start with more basic things.
For example, let's say you are going for a walk with az anyad and az apad and they let you walk on the stone and rock wall fences. On said walk, you may notice cool purple and white splotches on said rock wall. One who is not familiar with the nitrogen cycle and aviary defecation may not know that it is inappropriate to touch the purple and white splotch. I'm sure this not only makes for wonderful blog reading material, it was also wonderful dinner conversation last night.

Making dinner for the girls

Last night, my friends Kate and Charlotte came by for dinner with their mother, Joanna Neni. Agewise, I'm right between the two of them, so I end up playing with Kate a lot more than Charlotte.

What was really cool is that az anyam had us make our own pizzas. The hard part of the process is that you put together your pizza and get really excited, but then you have to wait until soooo long for the pizza to actually cook before you can enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Things are going swimmingly

I have been going to úszólecke on Sundays for the past month. I had to miss last week. It's right after mise and szundikálás was a better use of my time. Here's a pic of me getting ready for úszólecke.

The first week was a bit of a challenge. I didn't mind swimming in the lake where there was a gradual slope, but in the pool I have no choice - for me it's all the deep end. I was pretty not into it the first week, then they gave us rubber duckies. I get to throw the rubber ducky and then swim after it. I barely notice that I'm in deep water at that point. Az apam is there to hold on to me and now we get bubbles to help us float.

I'm not sure how much I trust az apam anymore. This past Sunday he had me go underwater....on purpose....several times. I didn't freak out on him, but if he tries that again next time, I may have to.

Here we go Brownies, Here we go. Woof, Woof.

It's a beautiful day to be a Brown's fan in the greater NY area.

Az apam was very excited about going into the office today and discussing last night's game with his coworkers.

At the end of the day, I like to bathe

Every night after dinner, I go bathe before going to bed. There were a few troubling days where I was not so keen on the whole bathing process.

Then az anyam introduced bubble baths into the picture. Now I am quite the bath fan, except for the part where I actually get washed.

As long as we play, we're cool. As soon az apam or az anyam strays from that formula, we have issues.

A riddle wrapped in a puzzle wrapped in an enigma

My morning ritual no longer includes a morning walk. It's dark and cold and no matter how much az apam insists, you are not getting me out there in the cold at 5 in the morning. Now, I generally work on puzzles and build stuff in the morning. I also do this throughout the day while at home.

I also find it important to document my work. With the economy going in the tank, I want to make sure I have documentation of my value-add to this family. So I take pictures of my accomplishments. I tried writing a resume, but everyone thought it looked like a hat.

I've got two big puzzles I like to put together - a fire truck and a construction site. Now that I've put them together 80000 times, I can do it by myself and I make sure to announce to the world that "I did it."

I also like to build hazak. Even if it looks like a zsiraf, it's a haz.

Just like Pacman Jones

The cool Brady Quinn jersey I got from Pak Bacsi last year fits me perfectly this year.

It's especially cool since the Browns are doing so well this year....Anyway, when I put the jersey on I feel just like a real football player. I sometimes get caught up in the moment and throw whatever I happen to grab, which isn't too good for the kittens.

I've gotten better - whenever az anyam or az apam catch me in the house about to throw something, I'll say, "Csak guritjuk."

You can pick your friends, and you can pick your apples

I was amazed at how much more there was to apple picking than just picking apples.

We got to pick pumpkins. Az anyam bought a dozen or 6 (dozen)....she bought a 40 pound pumpkin which az apam got to carry all the way back to the house from the pumpkin patch because it was so big it didn't fit in the car. Well, not really, but almost.

We not only rode horses, like I documented yesterday. We also got to ride in a horse-drawn cart. It's like riding in a cross between a car and a horse. I think it's the wave of the future. Change is coming. I can feel it.

Naturally, we picked apples as well. There the best part was actually sitting down and eating the apples with my friends. I needed some help getting started on the apples, but then I could go to town on them. I probably ate 4-5 apples.

I also enjoyed just sitting with my friends, too.

Riding. Yes, indeed, I'm riding.

Who knew apple picking could be this activity-filled? I went apple picking on Saturday with az anyam, az apam, Loren Neni, Ben Bacsi, Charlie, Nicole Neni, Andy Bacsi, Leah and Evan. I'll talk more about the apple picking tomorrow, but what I was really excited about was riding on horseback.
Sorry, wrong picture. I said, I got to ride on a horseback.

It was slow and a guided walk on the horse, but it was pretty cool. I was really unsure of what I was doing sitting on the horse, but I was comfortable enough to not really feel the need to hold on. The guy walking the horse kept telling me to hold on, but what does he really know?
I'm not really sure how much I enjoyed it, but it was definitely a unique experience.

Bring it on

I've had a wild, wacky, busy week, but I think it's gonna be an even wilder, wackier, busier weekend. The best part is that Peti Bacsi is going to babysit tomorrow night. You're saying to yourself, "Self, why is Peti Bacsi babysitting so wonderful? Especially when Mate is trying to adjust to his new bed..." Two words - Mass-age.

When Peti Bacsi visited two weekends ago, he gave me the most wonderful massage. It was like butter. It'll melt away all the stress from the wild, wacky and busy weekend and the stress of the new bed situation.

Cooking Now

As I've gotten older, az anyam has let me help more and more in the kitchen. She used to give me fake tasks to do like mixing pasta when we're having krumpli for vacsora. She lets me handle dangerous foods now, like eggs.

And yeah, I'm a little proud of myself for how much I can help now.

Watch out for Third Molar Surgery

Because Keresztmama's birthday fell on a Sunday, I forgot to blog her a Happy Birthday.

In particular, I wanted to get this on the blog so I could notify everyone, especially Keresztmama, of the important study I found on-line. I was perusing the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and found that age is a risk factor for Third Molar Surgery Complications.

While researching this, I found a study that az apam needs to be aware of.
And Happy Birthday, Keresztmama.

More than just pumpkins at the patch

We didn't really go to the pumpkin patch just to ride wagons. Why does one go to the pumpkin patch? To see goats, naturally.

There was a cool baby goat that had gotten out of its pen. Not only did it enjoy eating the food we gave it, the baby goat also ate the paper cups we had the food in.

There were sheep that we got to feed as well. Outside of eating our food and going "Baaaaa" they weren't very exciting. At least, not as exciting as the baby goat.

We did get to pick pumpkins and climb on them and try and lift them, but then we didn't buy any.I didn't mind that we didn't buy any pumpkins. This way we have to go back to the pumpkin patch again.
