New house. Different story.

Right now I am residing at my Nagymama and Nagypapa's house. It's great to be here. Not better or worse than at home, just different. Some of the highlights are:

The different scenery.

New people to hang out with.

But mostly I like the beer.

36 years is a loooooooooooooong time

I have been alive just over six months. That seemed to me to be a long time.

Az anyam has been alive almost 30 years. That is a really long time.

My Nagymama and Nagypapa have been married 36 years and a day. That is 71 times as long as I've been alive. That is almost half of Halley's Comet's orbit. They didn't even have iPods back then. Or computers. Or color television. Or women's suffrage. Or fire.

We won't even get into what that means for their ages. Despite being married for so long, they're willing to spend lots of time with me and do what I need for me to be me.

They're willing to be overshadowed by my cuteness.

And crawl around on the ground in dressy Christmas clothing to amuse me.

Presents are good

But wrapping paper is better.

Thank you to everyone who gave me gifts. I really enjoyed them. But not as much as I enjoyed the wrapping paper. Yummy. Yummy. Yummy. In my tummy. Tummy. Tummy.

Uncle Pak Bacsi was a quick study in how to open presents the Mate Way:

The best mom in the world

Christmas is still a few days away. I was seriously bumming about Mama's heading back to Toronto, but before she left az anyam let me open a Christmas present. That's wicked, yo.

On a related note, my postings will be a little sporadic over the next two weeks. I'm going to let you in on a little secret: I'm not a baby. I'm actually an elf. I have a whole lot of work to do over the next few days and then I'm part of the clean up crew, so it won't be until after Christmas that I get back into the swing of things.

Here I am trying to keep az anyam from letting my secret out of the bag.

A story in pictures.

This is self-explanatory. It was a momentous achievement that I am quite proud of. Not everyone can push himself under a couch on his own. Note that I started on the blanket which is in front of me in the pictures.

Drinking is cool

When I started eating solids I became more aware of what was going on around me at the dinner table. While I was eating like an adult, they were doing something else. I was feeling left out. Finally, they showed me what this whole "drinking" thing is all about.

It's kind of like nursing, but not really. It's really not nearly as relaxing or yummy. I'm generally getting water or formula. Water = Ok. I was a little weirded out the first few times I tried it. Formula = Not OK. Still working on this one. I was happy with formula for a while but then I realized what I was giving up (nursing) when I took formula. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice....not gonna happen.

Walking is good

I've really grown to love walking. Well, to have some else walk while I am strapped to him/her. The process of going for a walk, however, is painful. It starts with getting dressed for a walk, which in my house means layers. Lots and lots of layers. I get so many layers put on I end up wearing four different sizes of clothing. I really do not enjoy that.

As much as I dislike the layers, I HATE hats and gloves. I don't really notice them once they're on. But putting them on stinks like last week's pelenka. After that painful process it's time to get strapped in.

Strapping in isn't too bad. I'm usually still worked up over the whole hat and gloves experience. Once that is through and I'm ready for my walk, it is all smiles and giggles.

Sometimes I fell alone. Oh, so alone.

When I went to the doctor's office last week, she started filling my parents' heads with all sorts of ideas. Some wonderful. Some CRAZY.

Wonderful idea: Meat and beer can be introduced into my diet at any time now. Well, OK, I made up the beer part, but she did say meat can be introduced.

Crazy ideas: I should be going to sleep on my own and should be sleeping longer at night. To the end of sleeping more at night, my tummy should be kept as full as possible which should go back under the wonderful idea category.

But this going to sleep on my own this is the crazy talk of an unstable woman. The parents have been following this heresy for the last few days. Every once in a while I go right to sleep. Last night, for example, we chilled and read after my bath for 20 minutes. Az apam dropped me into bed and I was out like a light. More regular is my crying and moaning for 20 minutes after I get put to bed. But this is getting to be less and less.
I feel myself slipping into this "regular" behaviour they're trying to constrain me too. Pretty soon I'm going to be just like everybody else. Does nobody recognize that I'm a special man with special needs? I should be put on a pedestal, celebrated and rocked to sleep everytime I need a nap. I will remember this when I take over the world - Don't expect extra servings of gruel just because you're my parents.

Somedays I feel like a Barbie

And not a cool, Aussie, "throw a shrimp on the barbie" kind of Barbie. And no, not like that Nazi Barbie guy either. More like a two-sisters-have-cute-stuff-they-want-to-see-on-a-doll-but-there-is-no-other-doll-around-so-you-get-stuck-wearing-different-outfits-and-getting-giggled-at kind of Barbie.

Two sisters being a totally hypothetical situation. There definitely wouldn't be a situation where two sisters were together to dress me up in clothes from 1962.

As long as they don't decide to cut this doll's hair. Or color the doll with Magic Marker.

Yummmmmm

Az anyam has been getting more and more adventurous with my diet. I've now gotten peas and peaches in addition to that other stuff. It's still a lot of fruit and vegetables.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my six month checkup. Thank you all for your warm birthday wishes. After commenting on what a fine specimen of a six month old man I am, she gave me the news that I am only 18 lbs 15 oz. I said, "I know." It is hard to gain weight on a diet of squash and sweet potatoes. This could ruin my career in sumo. I decided then and there to take a stand. Until I get meat nobody's hair or thumb is safe. I was originally only going to go after hair, but that gave me no leverage with az apam.

Here are some examples of what you will reap by not having given me meat sooner:

I'm not asking for much. Just the occassional hotdog and beer would be nice:

Just remember. This all could have been avoided.

Christmas is coming, My dad is getting fat

I am quite excited that Christmas is coming. From what I hear it's the most wonderful time of the year. There are raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens, bright copper kettles and warm woolen mittens. OK, maybe not all that, but a whole bunch of my favorite things.

I'm hoping to score a TON of toys. I'm shooting for a PS3. Now that the parents have shown they are cool enough to buy me a cellphone, maybe they'll be cool enough to buy me one of those. Or maybe my favorite uncle would like to buy one for me. Unfortunately, I don't remember who my favorite uncle is....Uncle Pete Bacsi? Uncle RobiBobi GI Joe Bacsi? Uncle Pakawaka Bacsi? Uncle Piki Leporello Bacsi? I know how to figure it out - whichever one gets me the PS3.

On top of toys, Christmas is about family. Here's a great picture of my family in front of the Christmas tree - me, az anyam, az apam and the ceiling fan.

They finally broke

They (the broken ones) are obviously the parents. They couldn't handle the pressure any more. I gave them a good night of sleep or two after many, many not so good nights and they snapped.

They bought me a cell phone.

The only issue is that I seem to always get beeping on the other end. Nobody ever really answers.

Then again, that beeping is a lot more coherent than my usual phone conversations.

Isten Birthday Happy

An Happy Birthday shout out to Uncle Robi Bobi Bacsi who is getting to enjoy the fruits of his cold weather training on his holly jolly 28th birthday:

We did EVERYTHING together this weekend

Uncle Pak Bacsi and Auntie Em-i Neni were here this weekend. It was a wonderful weekend, but we tried to cram in so much and didn't want to leave each other's sides.

We played together.

We ate together.

We even brushed our teeth together.

I did learn one very important thing this weekend - Aunts and Uncles are kind of like parents...they are WEIRD.

Sitting is sooooooo boring

I was at az Anyam's Mom Group and there were all these toddlers running around. That seemed like so much fun. I decided it's time I give this whole "walking" thing a try. With Uncle Pak Bacsi and az Anyam's help, we practiced "walking" this morning:

Meg egy gondolat bant engemet

A few weeks ago when I was in Cleveland, I got to hang out with a TON of Stradas. Ever since then, something has been bothering me. I finally realized what it was. See this picture of me with Uncle Pak Bacsi:

Doesn't he look good playing with me? Don't you think he needs a baby with him full-time? Email your thoughts on this issue to the man who can do something about it: NemethBal@aol.com.

Egy gondolat bant engemet

A few weeks ago when I was in Cleveland, I got to hang out with a TON of ladies. Ever since then, something has been bothering me. I finally realized what it was. See this picture of me with Zsuzsannananana Neni:

2 of the many, many, many ladies in my life

Here is a wonderful pic of az anyam and az anya (ie, my mother and her mother):

We had a big old bonding time this weekend. The only time my butt was on the ground was when I was laying on the ground playing with Mama (Grandma). This picture was taken primarily as proof that Mama didn't hold me the entire weekend.
This is turning into the month of Hegedus....at least the ones who love me. Two weeks ago, Papa was here. This past weekend, Mama. Next weekend, Auntie Em. It's almost as if there were a Hegedus missing, but no - they've all visited me.

I am having significant technical difficulties today. I apologize.

I will post an update as soon as this is fixed.

I want to Jam with you

When I heard I was getting to Jam, I thought, "Finally, some processed sugar, some preservatives, maybe some monosodium glutamate." Admit it. With that subject line, you were thinking you would get some cute Mate smothering jam on his face videos. But that is not at all what my parents had in mind.

They actually had something more like this in mind:

I do so enjoy music. Raffi is the shizznick. Especially if I get to put az anyam's finger in my mouth.

No need for vanity

I used to complain when pictures were taken of my scantily clad body. Then I came to the realization that with a body like this, not only should I not be ashamed but I actually have a responsibility to share it.

Ladies, I would give you my cell number (hint, hint) if you like what you see, but the powers that be have decided that I should be happy that I have a blog and an email address.

Luv 2 comuni-k8

Back in my youth, in my first blog posting, I mentioned that my cheap parents hadn't yet gotten me a phone. They still haven't come through. Every once in a while, I get to borrow az anyam's phone. I had the chance to talk to Piki Bacsi the other day. I think that I am the only one who can truly relate to him. We see things from the same perspective - that of a 6 month old.

http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-1815903229576976829&hl=en

Some read in the facilities, I find the best place to talk is on the changing table. If I'm not on the changing table whn I'm on the phone, I usually just try to eat the phone. It's no meat, but it's definitely no vegetable.
