Water under the Mate

When Peti Bacsi and Nagypapa were visiting, we had an impromptu visit to the beach after Mise on Sunday. It got a little crazy with me ending up in the ocean naked and swimming. Az apam was disappointed he didn't capture any of it on film, but az anyam and az apam were so inspired by my frolicking that they took me to the lake after Peti Bacsi and Nagypapa left and after my nap.

It was awesome. I did my usual playing with sand, building mounds, taking the sand from the beach and moving it into the lake, taking the water from the lake and dumping it on the beach, etc. I also worked on my swimming.

I'm getting better and better at it. It was such an inspiring swimming day that since then I've been practicing my back stroke in the tub every night.

The Audacity of Dopes

Somebody's been stealing my lines.

Odd, Old Bacsi

Peti Bacsi and Nagypapa were over this past weekend. They were a lot of fun. We celebrated Peti Bacsi's 22nd birthday with cheesecake and susztertorta (magyar cobbler is the way cobbler should be). Both were tortak that I actually ate.

Peti Bacsi's fun to hang out with, even if it is every weekend.

Even if he is a bit odd. He kinda reminds me of someone I see every day.....

Mate's World

Just like my cousin, I love taking pictures. Although, I'm not the gentlest guy with the camera, az anyam and az apam still let me run around with the camera. They like to see the world from my point of view. I tend to take pictures of the things most important to me.

Lately I've been learning the ins and outs of WC use. That's my little bili on the left. We keep that one in the downstairs restroom. Still not an expert at its use, but just like my picture taking with enough practice I hope to become an expert shortly.

This is where we keep most of my toys and some of my books. During the day when I'm not hounding az anyam, this is where I tend to play.

Here are some more of my toys. The farm is a ton of fun and I enjoy building with my tools. The other day I put on my construction sisak and went to work building. Not sure what I was building, but I was building.

This is my most important location in the house. It's where I sit and eat. Outside of the car and the occasional TV watching, it's the place where I sit the stillest.

This is az anyam and az apam. From this angle they're a little scary, but they're really nice and cool people. Well, alright, az anyam is nice and cool.

Here is a self-portrait. I call it Máté Szája. I think it's kinda an inspired picture in an Albrecht Dürer kind of way.

Yesterday's Post Was A Hoax

I was really just kidding yesterday. I mean, really! I'm going to be an athlete. I couldn't even sit through all of Touch-a-Truck without playing ball. Now it's just a matter of picking the sport. I've been dabbling with tennis lately.

Unfortunately, the tennis doesn't usually go as well as the baseball or the football. I might just need to find better tennis partners. Sorry, Benji.

And I am, oh, so jealous of my cousins. I can't wait until I'm as old as they are.

The rest of my life

Last week az anyam took me to a wicked cool event - Touch-a-Truck. They had all sorts of cool equipment and machines. As I was climbing into the different trucks I thought of all the day jobs I could have while I work on taking over the world:

I could mow the lawn on the side of the highway, just like those guys in the nifty orange jump suits.
I could be a paramedic and wear a cool helmet.

If I were a firefighter I could wear an even cooler helmet a lot more of the time.

I could become a motorcycle cop. Mami, You wouldn't mind if I spent my days riding a motorcycle with a gun strapped to my side? I would have a helmet.

Or I could just become a hippy, get a VW and hang out with Benji....

Baseball is never boring

I realize some of you are getting bored with my baseball posting, but you (and you know who you are) don't get baseball and don't get me. Amerikai vagyok, amerikai. Amerikainak születtem.
Amerikai nótát dalolt a dajka felettem....and that means baseball.

Everything I do tends to focus on the baseball. I can't even play with Play-Doh without thinking baseball.

Now we're playing with fire

Or at least a "Mátéra való kesztyű."

Over the weekend az anyam and az apam did something wonderful and special - they bought me a "Mátéra való kesztyű." Baseball is so much easier this way as opposed to when I was using the Papira való kesztyű.

That doesn't mean the game of baseball has gotten easy. I still have some issues playing it. I'm not quite worried about catching and hitting, more like getting the mitt on the correct hand facing the right direction.

Back to the Important Stuff

Enough with that muvesz stuff. Back to sports.

Over the weekend az anyam and az apam took me to the park to play baseball. We've watched the big kids playing here quite a bit, so it was really cool to play baseball where they play.
The challenge is using az anyam's old softball mitt - it's a little bit big on me. The upside of using such a big mitt is that it fits on both hands both forwards and backwards. The downside is that the mitt doesn't really help when wearing it backwards on the wrong hand.

I was called a Pollock

I replied, "No, Hungarian."

I talk a lot about my sporting life - the football, the basketball, the bouncing, etc. I do have a softer, gentler side. Our lovely deck and backyard is suitable for more than just fun stuff, it's also good for muveszkedes.

How could I not paint? Did you see the cool toolbox full of paint stuff in that video? Any activity is fun if you have the right toys.

Practice does not always make perfect

Despite all my practice on az anyam and az apam's bed, I was not quite ready for the wonder of Bounce U, as seen on Jon & Kate plus 8. I went with az anyam and Rhonda Neni and Ben.

Not only did they have the usual stuff like bouncy rooms and slides, they had baseball and basketball.

It was awesome. I got to try it allllll out.

I was good, but not Phelps good. More like Cseh good. I think I need to practice with my baseball and basketball stuff on az anyam and az apam's bed.

Ágyon ugrás or Agyon ugrás

I've been jumping on the bed more and more lately, but it has all been with a goal. It's not jumping for jumping's sake.

As az apam was saying, "Citius, Altius, Fortius." With a lot of work I got to jumping so fast that the camera couldn't even contain me.

How to play? Let me count the ways...

I have all sorts of cool toys around the hosue. Some of my favorites are the trucks and the train set. I really enjoy setting up the train track. It's even cooler when someone else sets it up for me. Az anyam is a szakerto.

I got to play with the vonat and the truckok with Peti Bacsi over the weekend. It's good to have someone at my level...or at least when I send the truck into the wall.

A quiet weekend is not always a quiet weekend

Yesterday, when I discussed my relatively calm weekend, I should have been more clear - it was a relatively calm weekend. For az anyam and az apam that means we didn't have any 'planned' events. We still did all sorts of stuff. It's kind of like when we say we didn't have any guests, just Peti Bacsi.
Az apam did take me to the zoo. I really enjoy the zoo. I feel pretty comfortable there, I know where all the animals are and which are coming up next as we walk around. I think the farkasok are starting to recognize me. When I'm around they lay around listlessly in the homok in a recognizing sort of fashion.

The Olympic Spirit

With the Olympics here, I've been diversifying my sport interests. I'm still playing tons of baseball and foci and kosarlabda, but I'm trying out some of the other sports I've been seeing on TV.

Az anyam and az apam have an Olympic-sized bed that's a whole lot of fun to play sports on. Here I am trying out birkozas with az anyam's pillow.

I then got into the whole gymnastics deal:

A little bit much

I have a healthy amount of personality. I let this show through sometimes. It's true - sometimes it just overwhelms my sense of reservedness. This is never more true than when I am frolicking with friends. This can be a challenge when they're not ready for it...

The right motivation

I have always like to have everything in my world just the way I like it, but I have enjoyed getting other people's input and sharing my world. I have become a little more possessive of late. When there are lots of kids over, I sometimes feel the need to make clear what and who is mine.
However, there are some people with whom this is never an issue.....

With some people I'll gladly share my juice box and sarga dinye...

Family of hippies

My parents have been living in a blue state for far too long. Look at the way they've been dressing. Just the other day, az apam let me into a deep, dark secret - in 2006 he voted for a senator with an American Civil Liberties Union rating of 83. What is this world coming to?

Az anyam has always had that Canadian influence, but look at her shirt - it screams granola.

At least az anyam and az apam aren't hanging out with the seedy New York elements like Mama and Papa did during their visit.

Next thing you know az apam is going to start wearing Birkenstocks.

Parking in the sprinkler or Sprinkling in the park?

In addition to water in the ocean and the lake, I've also become smitten with water in the sprinkler park. I still don't care for the tub.

The correct sprinkler park technique involves three of my favorite things - running, shrieking and running.

Grandson at the Beach

Just because az anyam was working did not mean that I couldn't have playdates. Mama and Papa had me hanging out with many of the usual suspects.

I went to several beaches several times with Charley. We did our Baywatch best to attract the ladies, but we came back with empty nets.

I didn't mind the lack of ladies because we had something far more important to check out - a tractor. Having cool truck/tractor equipment at the beach!?!?! The only thing that would have been more wicked is if Leah had been driving the tractor.

The Babysitter Club

While az anyam has been busy at camp, I've had a really swell time with Mama and Papa. Papa went back to Toronto earlier this week and Mama goes back tomorrow.

We've done all of my favorite things together and gone to my favorite places - Papa would take me for morning walks, we went to the beach and the lake, Stepping Stones. But we also got to just hang out and read and play. We'll have to do this again soon.
