Kids in the Pumpkin Patch

The other day I went to a pumpkin patch with Evan and Leah. One of my favorite parts was riding in the wagon with my friends.

The other cool part about riding in the wagon is the noises you can make when going over a rocky road.

Mucho Apologies

In a previous post, I reposted a picture of Keresztpapa that did not give him the justice and dignity he richly deserves. I am reposting the posting here with a more appropriate picture.

Congratulations to Keresztpapa who was a finalist at Operalia, Placido Domingo's opera competition.

Can't nobody hold me down

Today's posting has nothing to do with the attached picture, but I haven't had a chance to use this picture yet and I don't have any relevant pictures. I could have resurrected a picture from an old posting, like this one. But using this one gives me the chance to say, "Go Browns."

So anyway.....Saturday was a good day. I went to magyar iskola with az apam. We left a little early because I was getting tired. We got home and az apam took me right upstairs to my room to read to me. We read a few books, but I was feeling really tired so az apam put me to bed. I felt tired, but I didn't feel like going to bed. I crawled over the top of my crib, grabbed a book and sat down to read in the big chair in my room.
I didn't know what gave me away, but az apam later told me he heard the bump as I crawled out of my crib and then my feet running across the floor. He was back in my room within seconds of my sitting down to read. I proudly told him, "Papi, kimasztam agybol." He seemed like he was amused but trying really hard to hide it. We then went to do some other physicial activities. I think az apam was trying to tire me out. It worked. I then went to sleep with no problem.
When I woke up from my nap, az anyam and az apam were eavesdropping on the baby monitor. So after I crawled out of my crib, I started hollering "SURPRISE" until they came to see me outside my crib. Az apam asked me to show him how I crawled out, he was unable to hide how impressed he was when I swung my self out of the crib and onto the ground in seconds.
Az apam replaced the one side of my crib to make into a medium boy bed, not quite a big boy bed yet. This has led to some alvasi gondok as the novelty of being able to easily crawl out of bed at will is a novelty. I do quite enjoy the freedom. I don't think az anyam and az apam do.

WooHoo

Congratulations to Keresztpapa who was a finalist at Operalia, Placido Domingo's opera competition.

I'm really glad he did so well - it gives me an opportunity to post this picture again and link to Placido Flamingo.

Tenniskey, anyone?

Baseball is a pure sport. It's "junior league" was founded in 1901. It has brief plays which last 10 seconds. It's practically cricket in its slow, steady sophistication. This (and the sliding) are some of the key things I appreciate about baseball.

Tennis is also mistakenly thought of in this vein. However, tennis is easily combined with it's sister sport of hockey in a baseketball kinda, sorta way.

This sport has action, intensity, a racquet and can be played comfortably on the porch among the patio furniture. A totally different set of qualities to appreciate.

Kai-errific

Every Friday I get to play with my boy Kai. We switch up whose house we go to every week. We also switch up whose anyuka watches over us.

Despite his relative youth, he's six months younger, we play really well together. Sometimes it's more like playing around each other than playing with each other, but just having him around is pretty wicked cool.

Party On!

We got to do some cool stuff at Evan's party. We all made our own little pizzas. Unfortunately, because the lasagna took so long to cook, we didn't get to cook and eat our own pizzas. We all had fun eating the toppings and making them - pineapple and mushrooms are awesome.
I played with the birthday boy a bit. I really like playing with Evan and giving him big hugs. Fortunately, he's gotten used to my big hugs and now tolerates them until either az anyam or Nicole Neni peels me off of him.

We also got to eat cake. I'm not much of a cake eater. I enjoy singing and partying, but the cake is the one part of the party I'm not into at all. Evan liked his cake.

You gotta fight for your right to party

My good friend Evan had a birthday party this past weekend. You may know him better as Leah's little brother.
It was really fun - I got do something completely different - I hung out with Leah and Charlie.

Then I went totally off the wall and took some pictures. Here's a picture of az anyam.

This is a picture of Lauren Neni, Charlie's mom.

This is my apos, Andy Bacsi.

This is Ben Bacsi, Charlie's dad.

And of course, you recognize az apam.

It was nice to mix it up this weekend and do something completely different.

A Weekend without Baseball is like a Fish without a Bicycle

This weekend I did something totally out of the ordinary - I played baseball. This was a little different in that az apam took me to the park and we played on the baseball diamond where I usually watch the bacsik play baseball.

It's a lot of fun running around the infield like I see other people doing. However, I don't like to constrain myself by following their "rules." Baseball is too stuffy of a sport. They need some change. They need their feathers ruffled by some out of the box play. Why doesn't the catcher get to run the bases? Why can't the batter wear a fielding glove?

Why do you build me up, Buttercup?

The weekend wasn't just carnivals and sports and guitars. There was some down time hanging with the Bacsik. I enjoyed just playing with my toys and reading with the Bacsik.

Pak Bacsi was very helpful in building towers. Unfortunately, whenever I came around they all fell down. No idea how/why that happened.

Riding the Elephant

As I mentioned yesterday, I went to a church festival over the weekend where I picked up a guitar. There were also a lot of rides at the festival. Most of them were for big kids who shrieked a lot. That weirded me out.

Watching the bumper cars was pretty cool. It was just like watching az anyam parallel park. Fortunately, az anyam is a wonderful, patient, open-minded woman with a wonderful sense of humor that she'll appreciate the joke.

There was at least one toddler-friendly ride - the flying elephants. Not to be confused with another flying elephant ride which I plan on going on in just a few months. The one at the church carnival is totally unrelated to the other one, for Trademark purposes anyway.

I was definitely apprehensive about the whole experience at first. However, once we took off I got to enjoy it.

Uno, dos, one, two, tres, quatro

Pak Bacsi and Peti Bacsi came wassailing this past weekend. Not really wassailing, but it would have been a whole lot cooler if they had. The three of us joined az anyam and az apam on a trip to a church festival down the street, Assumptionpalooza. The best part of the festival was the White Elephant sale. They had a wicked awesome skateboard that az anyam and az apam wouldn't let me get. They also had a wicked awesome guitar that az anyam and az apam did get for me.

I jammed solo in the stroller on the walk home from the festival. I jammed with Pak Bacsi and Peti Bacsi all evening. I just can't figure out why the guitar doesn't make any noise. It's got all sorts of cool buttons and gizmos that probably make really obnoxious noises if they worked. It's OK, I still enjoy rocking with the guitar even if it doesn't make noise.

Not Flying Solo

Last week I got to go the zoo with my boy, Ben. Seeing the zoo with a friend is a much more exciting way to go. I usually go with just az apam or az anyam. It's fun and all, but when is the last time they were willing to crawl through a log with me.

We also crawled on the animals. Not the real animals. The fake ones scattered around the zoo.

It would be a whole lot cooler if we got to climb on the real animals. I think I'm going to drop that idea in the suggestion box next time. Even if they decided to allow us on the real animals, az anyam probably wouldn't allow it. She won't even let az apam fix the gutter on the house.

A Day in the Life

I've had a lot of visitors lately. Generally, they just want to hang out and see how I fill my days while they bask in my aura. Nagymama was run the wringer of trying to keep up with me one afternoon this past week.

First it was a little basketball.

Then it was foci. One ball slows the game down too much, I prefer to play with at least two.

We then played a little golf. I also tend to play a different version of golf where both players try to hit the ball at the same time.

I was then ready to climb the walls, but I tried to climb a tree instead.
Then one of us needed a break, so I played with Play-Doh.

After that break we were all geared up to play a sport I hadn't played in hours - baseball. Nagymama was very excited to be playing that again. The key to going like this is that as soon as you start feeling tired - switch sports. It re-energizes me.

Not just for construction anymore

I received a construction helmet when I went to the Touch-a-Truck event a few weeks ago. It was pretty cool - I felt just like a construction worker. Then in a magical moment, like the Lady of the Lake gifting Excalibur to Arthur, I found a totally cooler sisak in our basement.

I don't know what its original purpose was, but it is so multi-faceted. I used it biking...

and for gardening...

and for shopping....

and even for running. One can never be too safe.

We all need a bounce

Normally when I get too involved in myself in inanity, I think of a rabbit with a pancake on its head. Lately, however, I've been reading about refocusing using more advanced and metaphysical methods - Jnana Yoga, Maranatha and auditing. I've come up with my own method of finding inner peace and tranquility....I think I shall call it Tientology.

It involves jumping up and then landing. And then jumping up and then landing. And then jumping up and then landing. And then jumping up and then landing. And then jumping up and then landing.

Thank God for Nagymamak

After my experience with the Bacsik trying to play baseball, it was refreshing to have Nagymama come to town. Finally, a real baseballer.

We worked a lot on fundamentals using a variety of techniques. My favorite was using a smaller ball on the tee - develops hand-eye coordination in amazing ways. It's even more effective than the Bop-N-Birdie Junior Childrens Hand-Eye Coordination Trainer.

Goooooo-ggggggllllleee

I apologize for the issues with Friday's video. I take full responsibility for Google's technical shenanigans.
I upgraded my version of Picasa which forced me to switch from Google Video to YouTube which was a mess, but then I thought it was finally working. Unfortunately, the option to not enable the world to see my videos meant nobody but I could see them. I think the issue has been resolved by switching back to Google Video.

Teaching the Bacsik

I love my uncles and I love spending time with them, but sometimes I feel they don't really know what's going on. They seem like they should know their sports.
But they really don't get the correct way to play baseball.

You say it's your birthday

Emi Neni's birthday is coming up this Saturday, but since she was in town we celebrated it early. She's old, but not nearly as old as keresztpapa or even az anyam.

I decided to give her a special treat and dress up as one of her favorite musicians.

Schooling the Ladies

More about the bacsik and neni visit tomorrow, for today I've got big news. A mama and a papa got me a wicked awesome hatizsak. It's got a majom on it and the majom detaches. These hatizsak things have an awful lot of straps on them, but az anyam and az apam are more than happy to help.

Oh yeah, I got the hatizsak because I started school yesterday. My class currently has three young ladies and me in it. It was a good time.
Shalom, y'all.

600 Posts, 600 Guests

This post is #600. During this time it feels like we've had 600 guests. We've enjoyed most of these guests, even Keresztpapa. In honor of this large quantity of visitors, we had four more guests over the weekend - Peti Bacsi (of course), Robi Bacsi, Emi Neni and Andris Bacsi. The weather was beautiful, so we spent a lot of time outside.

One of my important lessons learned from the weekend....

with enough big males around, I am never lacking for ways to not have to walk.

Then Peti Bacsi taught us how to use an acorn shell as a sip. It worked pretty well for Emi Neni and Andris Bacsi.

It didn't work so well for me.
