Mikulas is coming to town

This is the time of year when we honor the patron saint of sailors, merchants, archers, children, and students in Greece, Belgium, Bulgaria, Georgia, Russia, the Republic of Macedonia, Slovakia, Serbia and Montenegro as well as the patron saint of Colombia, Bari (Italy), Amsterdam, Beit Jala in the West Bank of Palestine and Russia.

St. Nicholas did not tolerate pagans and destroyed their temples. We commemorate this by getting gifts from him. If you think that's weird, we celebrate Christ's death and resurrection by getting gifts from a rabbit. Could be worse, we could believe in unconditional election.
