Getting into routines

Az anyam and az apam have worked hard to get me into a routine and it's working pretty well. Most days I wake up at an awful hour of the morning, I get some milk and go back to sleep. I then wake up a little later, but still an awful hour of the morning. I then have a bagel and some fruit mixed with oatmeal for breakfast. I enjoy the pattern - just like the rhythm in music, there's a beautiful rhythm with order and neatness and schedules.

The new part of this pattern is awesome - football Sundays. Sunday lunchtime is for playing football.

Sunday afternoon is for watching football (and gently playing with a Nerf football in the house). We've only done it a few times, but it's a pattern I, as a warm-blooded American male, feel is important to continue. It's practically a civic duty.

The last word

Halloween was a whole boatload of fun. The costumes, the parties, the road trips with the ladies, beating up little kids for their candy. All aspects were nifty. They just dragged on too long.

I enjoyed dressing up in my dinosaur costume. If az apam asked me to roar like a dino one more time I was going to show him what T Rex really was like.

Going to parties was great. But how many times can one child to the hokey pokey?

The one part that never did get old was the pumpkins. I came up with a great new game. You'll have to try it next year. I took the top of the jack-o-lantern and then I put it back on. And then I took the top of the jack-o-lantern and then I put it back on. And then I took the top of the jack-o-lantern and then I put it back on. You get the idea. You might think that this would get old, but it's like a Balazs bacsi joke - the more you do it, the better it is.

Kinda like a bad hair day, but worse

Some people are saying I'm hitting the terrible twos, but I'm only 17 months old. I think it's more that I'm just a prima donna.

I was getting ready for the day yesterday - I had gotten dressed and brushed my hair and only had to accessorize. I had some trouble figuring out how to wear my sunglasses - on the head, dangling around the neck or on my face. Then az apam had to pipe up. Have you seen the way this guy dresses? I had to leave the room, but not before giving him a piece of my mind.

Dads can be so irritating.

I am the tok tunder. Goo goo g' joob

I promise that this will be my final Halloween-related posting....for this week. We went pumpkin picking the Connecticut way.

This is the good way to do it. You park the car. You get a little wagon. You cross a parking lot to a muddy part of the parking lot covered in straw and made to look rustic and farm-ish. Then you pick your pumpkin from a spread of artistically laid out pre-picked pumpkins. It's just enough farm-ish to get some good pumpkin-picking photos.

Just because it's a little Martha Stewart/pre-fab/posed does not mean it's all easy and sunshine and roses and baby seals (whatever that means). I still had to put the pumpkins into the cart. Those things are heavy.

Is it az anyam or az apam I'm taking after?

I went pumpkin picking with the family. We got a little cart to carry the pumpkins and other lugs around in.

I couldn't figure out the whole thing. I wanted to ride in the cart and pull it and carry the pumpkins at the same time. I have this control freak streak that I just don't get where I get it from.

He is adorable. I shall call him....

I've had this whole dinosaur motif going on for quite a bit. It's like the Moebius strip Halloween - it goes on forever. Not that I'm complaining. I'm getting to go to parties, to eat food I'm normally not allowed to eat, to see barnyard animals and the highlight was I got to make a new friend.

This little guy in my hand is az apam's coworker's dinosaur. I found him at a Halloween party at his office. That's the kind of job I need when I grow up - one with Halloween parties. Once I'm running the world, I wonder if I can have these Halloween parties at world-running-headquarters.

Back to the little dinosaur. He is so adorable. I just need to give him a name. Suggestions are welcome.
