Supposedly, George Mallory was once asked why he climbed Everest. He is rumored to have replied, "Because it was there." We all have our Everests to climb. And climb them we must. Because they are there. Once you reach the summit, the apex, the apogee, the zenith, the pinnacle, take a second to appreciate what you've accomplished and then it's time to start getting into trouble again.
